Ceramic Coating FAQ

What Should I Avoid After Ceramic Coating My Car?

After getting your car ceramic coated, it's important to avoid certain activities and practices to maintain the coating's effectiveness and appearance:

  1. Avoid Washing Too Soon: Wait at least 7 days before washing your car after ceramic coating. This allows the coating to fully cure and bond to the paint surface. Washing too soon can disrupt this process and potentially compromise the coating's durability.
  2. Avoid Abrasive Wash Methods: Do not use abrasive wash techniques such as automatic car washes with brushes or harsh scrubbing materials. These can scratch or abrade the ceramic coating, diminishing its protective qualities and potentially damaging the underlying paint.
  3. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Refrain from using strong chemicals or acidic cleaners on your car. While ceramic coatings offer chemical resistance, repeated exposure to harsh chemicals can degrade the coating over time. Use pH-neutral car wash shampoos and gentle cleaning products designed for coated surfaces.
  4. Avoid Parking Under Trees: Tree sap, bird droppings, and other organic contaminants can still adhere to and potentially damage the ceramic coating. Avoid parking your car under trees or in areas where it may be exposed to such hazards for extended periods.
  5. Avoid Using Wax or Sealants: Ceramic coatings provide a durable and long-lasting protective layer. Applying wax or sealants over the ceramic coating is unnecessary and can interfere with its performance. Stick to maintenance products specifically designed for use with ceramic coatings.
  6. Avoid Abrasive Polishing or Compounding: If your car needs paint correction or polishing in the future, ensure it is done by a professional who understands how to work with ceramic-coated surfaces. Abrasive polishing compounds can remove the ceramic coating and damage the underlying paint.
